The wax is shock burnt out, hence the term lost. Molten metal is poured into the vacant mould, from which the cast is removed by shattering the ceramic. Eventually the family immigrated to New Zealand. On finishing school Michael became self employed. In 1981 he turned full time to sculpture with his own bronze casting facility in Toowoomba, Qld. His subject matter was Australian wildlife. 1990 saw him expand to the USA opening a second foundry in Arizona, eventually settling in Eugene Oregon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIn 1999 Michael Storey moved on again, this time to the UK, setting up a third foundry in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.  In total, more than two hundred galleries were carrying Michael's work and in the twenty five year period over 500,000 pieces were produced.
