She had a passion for growing both her beloved plants from home as well tropical varieties. She recommended that British gardeners in India should not try too hard to replicate an English garden, as lovely as it was to be reminded of home, but seek to embrace the native shrubs and creepers that she herself found interesting. Native to the Himalayas, a delicate sprig of Geranium wallichianum also known cranesbill, leaps and dances from Lady Beatrix Stanley’s parchment.
